MONROVIA – The AMI Group of Companies in Liberia has donated to the Ministry of Education and the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) the sum of US$200,000 to help Liberian students through scholarships within Liberia and donated over 400 bags of rice at the value of US$10,000 across various prisons and health centers in three counties.

C. – The Patent and Trademark Office of the United States Government has granted Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan a third patent for his invention of the real-time multiplex rapid diagnostic test for infectious diseases. Dr. Nyan is one of the world’s brightest scientists from Liberia, a historic country founded in Africa by ex-slaves from the Americas.

WASHINGTON – The World Bank approved an Additional Financing to the Rural Economic Transformation Project (RETRAP-AF) to the tune of $30 million in concessional International Development Association (IDA)* credit to improve productivity and market access for smallholder farmers and agri-enterprises for selected food value chains, especially for rice.
