MONROVIA — In his historic inaugural message, President Joseph Boakai has called on citizens of Liberia to unite in the face of challenges and build a more inclusive and accountable society.

MONROVIA – President Joseph Boakai appears poised to address a pressing issue head-on, seemingly disregarding the implications for one of his key political allies, Nimba County Senator Prince Y. Johnson. President Boakai has committed to formulating plans for the creation of a war and economic crimes court, signaling a determination to address important matters of justice and accountability.

MONROVIA – Under the unmerciful sun, blazing at 29 degrees Celsius, the 80-year-old newly sworn-in President had read his inaugural message for a little over 30 minutes and was still reading. However, signs of discomfort were very visible in his face and body language. Even the zest with which he started his speech had diminished, and as he continued, he nearly fainted. Fortunately, he was assisted to a seated position and fanned repeatedly until he stabilized.

President Boakai, who was sworn into office at mid-day today, had been delivering his inaugural speech for over 30 minutes when the incident occurred.

MONROVIA – A cutting-edge facility, established in January 2019 through a collaboration between the Liberia National Police and the Liberia Traffic Management with an investment of US$50 million, remains inactive. The state-of-the-art facility, intended for the inspection and registration of vehicles and drivers, is also equipped with a fleet of SUVs and motorbikes dedicated to enhancing road safety inspections. However, its operational status has been stalled by an extensive legal dispute over the contractual agreement, preventing its intended use.

Monrovia – The Unity Party (UP) has submitted a petition for a declaratory judgment to the Civil Law Court challenging the eligibility of the newly elected Speaker, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, to hold his position. The party contends that Cllr. Koffa is ineligible due to claims that he holds U.S. citizenship.
