Alternative National Congress Gives Margibi County Facelift

Margibi County – The Alternative National Congress (ANC) on Thursday, December 22, 2016 began a campaign to give Margibi County a facelift ahead of the festive holiday.

Hundreds of young people including women recruited by ANC’s Margibi County Chapter are currently cleaning various communities including the provincial City of Kakata.

ANC Margibi County Chairman, Roland Kaine said the exercise, which would last for six months was approved by the party’s political leader Alexander B. Commings.

Mr. Kaine, a former Senator of Margibi disclosed that Commings has agreed to pay individuals who have been hired to clean their own communities.

He disclosed that about 50 to 60 people have been recruited from each of the targeted 25 communities across the county.

Mr. Kaine said during the cleaning exercise, the party will carry out awareness on the nationwide voter registration exercise.

According to him, ANC will encourage eligible voters in Margibi to turnout to register to vote.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) said it would target 2.5 million voters during the nationwide voter registration exercise which is expected to start in February, 2017.

Beneficiaries lauded the party for the initiative and called on other aspirants and political parties to emulate the example of ANC’s political leader.

Joseph Bondo lauded Mr. Kaine for initiating the clean-up exercise and said “this is the first time for a political party to empower people to clear their own communities”.

Our reporter said several public facilities including the Larkata Clinic in Compound was cleaned by a group of women from the community.
