Saturday’s opening doubleheader delivered nine goals, headlined by a dominant 4–1 victory for Bea Mountain FC over Discoveries SA and a thrilling 2–2 draw in the Paynesville Derby between Watanga FC and Paynesville FC.

Bea Mountain Dominate Discoveries

Bea Mountain established control early against Discoveries SA, taking the lead in the 26th minute when Darius Garmondeh converted a superb diving header. Just four minutes later, Fredrick Dennis doubled the advantage to put Bea Mountain up 2–0.

Discoveries SA managed to pull one back just before the break, converting a penalty in the 45th minute to send the teams into halftime at 2–1.

However, Bea Mountain quickly restored their two-goal cushion early in the second period.

Ralph Weah struck in the 50th minute to make it 3–1, putting the Gold Boys firmly in control as Discoveries struggled to create meaningful chances.

The victory was sealed in the 83rd minute when Dennis stepped up to convert a penalty, completing his brace and capping off a dominant 4–1 performance.

Watanga, Paynesville Battle to a Draw

Earlier in the day, the tournament opened with a fierce local rivalry between Watanga FC and Paynesville FC.

The four-goal thriller saw Watanga’s Kindness Cole score twice, while Boakai Keita responded with a brace of his own for Paynesville FC to enforce a 2–2 stalemate.
