Transfer Saga Resolved: Pascal Harris Rejects NPA Anchors, Remains with Wologizi as Anchors Pull Out

MONROVIA – Defender Pascal Harris has broken his silence on his contentious transfer dispute involving first-division side NPA Anchors FC and Wologizi FC, clarifying that he remains a Wologizi player while accusing NPA Anchors of prematurely announcing his signing using an AI-altered photograph.

The defender’s clarification coincided with an official statement from the National Port Authority (NPA) Sports Association announcing the immediate closure of their pursuit of the player.

The saga escalated after NPA Anchors officially presented Harris as their latest acquisition, claiming the defender joined the newly promoted First Division outfit following the “successful completion of all necessary formalities” with Wologizi FC.

However, Harris vehemently disputed the club’s account, stating he never authorized NPA Anchors to announce him as a new signing, nor had he finalized terms or signed a formal contract.

“They AI-Generated My Photo” — Harris Speaks Out

Detailing the timeline of events, Harris explained that he visited the NPA Anchors headquarters on invitation while operating under the belief that he was a free agent.

During initial talks, the defender requested a US$600 signing fee alongside a comprehensive review of the club’s contractual terms.

“NPA really wanted me, but they didn’t want to do the rightful thing,” Harris disclosed.

According to Harris, NPA Anchors informed him that the full US$600 signing fee was not immediately available. The club subsequently paid him an initial deposit of US$300, with an understanding that the remaining US$300 balance would be cleared prior to any contract execution.

“They said when their legal department was ready to issue player contracts, they would give me my balance before I signed for the club. That’s how we concluded,” Harris explained.

“To my surprise, they posted me on their official page when my deal was not yet complete.”

Harris expressed shock at being publicly presented as an official signing, noting that he had not partaken in an official media shoot and accusing the club of manipulating an existing picture from his personal social media pages.

“The deal wasn’t even complete,” Harris said. “They took this photo from my page and changed it AI-generated. Apart from the receipt for the US$300 I signed, we didn’t even talk about a contract. I told them I wanted to know my salary first before anything about signing.”

Although personal reasons initially prompted his desire to depart Wologizi FC, Harris indicated that NPA Anchors’ handling of the negotiation altered his decision entirely.

“Honestly, I wanted to leave Wologizi due to some personal issues, but the way NPA handled my deal is not football-related,” he remarked, adding that his manager advised him to return the initial US$300 deposit to fully put the matter to rest.

“I will give their 300 back and stay with Wologizi.”

NPA Anchors Officially Withdraw Interest

Following Harris’ public statements and conflicting claims between the two clubs, the leadership of NPA Anchors FC released an official press statement confirming the termination of all recruitment efforts regarding the defender.

The club stated that while Harris had initially agreed on personal terms and executed a pre-contract agreement as a free agent, subsequent findings revealed that he later extended his contract with Wologizi FC.

The official statement read:

“The National Port Authority (NPA) Sports Association and NPA Anchors FC wish to officially announce the closure of our pursuit of player Pascal Harris.

Pascal Harris had initially reached an agreement on personal terms with NPA Anchors FC and subsequently signed a pre-contract agreement with the club as a free agent.

However, it has since come to our attention that he later extended his contract with his current club after signing the pre-contract with NPA Anchors FC.

NPA Anchors FC respects the contractual obligations of all clubs and remains committed to conducting its transfer business with integrity, professionalism, and in full compliance with the rules and regulations governing player transfers.

Accordingly, the club has decided to discontinue its interest in signing Pascal Harris, as NPA Anchors FC does not intend to sign any player who is under a valid contractual agreement with another club. We appreciate the understanding of our supporters and all stakeholders and remain focused on strengthening the squad through transparent and lawful recruitment processes.”

The resolution aligns with earlier statements by Wologizi head coach Jasper Benfelix, who consistently maintained that the defender remained under contract with Wologizi FC.

With Harris agreeing to refund the initial US$300 deposit and NPA Anchors formally withdrawing their interest, the transfer saga draws to a close, leaving Pascal Harris firmly committed to Wologizi FC for the upcoming campaign.
