Monrovia – Former President George Manneh Weah has joined a growing list of Liberians and admirers around the world in mourning the sudden death of Amb. Miracle Kettor, President of the Liberia Association of Gospel Musical Artists (LAGMA), describing her as a “pillar of stability” whose leadership transformed the country’s gospel music community.
Kettor died on July 22 at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Monrovia. The cause of her death has not yet been established. Her passing has sent shockwaves across Liberia’s entertainment and Christian communities, prompting an outpouring of tributes from religious leaders, musicians, public officials, and fans at home and abroad.
In a statement issued Friday through his office, former President Weah extended his deepest condolences to the Kettor family, LAGMA, the Liberian music industry, and the Christian community, describing her death as a profound loss to the nation.
Weah said Kettor distinguished herself through dedicated leadership, noting that she became a stabilizing force within the gospel music sector after making history by being elected and later re-elected to serve consecutive terms as President of LAGMA.
According to the former president, Kettor’s leadership strengthened the association and helped elevate Liberia’s gospel music industry during her tenure.
He also praised the late gospel artist as “a true patriot, soul winner for Christ, and an advocate for social justice,” saying she used her music not only to spread the Christian faith but also to promote positive values and national unity.
Weah noted that Kettor’s longstanding contributions to LAGMA, Liberia’s gospel music sector, the Christian community, and the broader society would continue to serve as a lasting reminder of her enduring legacy.
He urged the bereaved family, members of LAGMA, the Christian community, and Liberians across the country to find strength and comfort in God during the difficult period of mourning.
