KLAY, Bomi County – Renowned Liberian activist and whistleblower Martin K.N. Kollie has officially turned over a first-of-its-kind, state-of-the-art multipurpose bus stop to the residents of Klay District, Bomi County.

Speaking from exile over the weekend, Kollie maintained that the project serves as a blueprint for the quality of infrastructure Liberians should expect from those in leadership.
The facility, which has been described as the largest and most modern of its kind in the region, was inaugurated during a turnover ceremony held on Friday, February 13, 2026, that saw local residents gathered to witness the unveiling of a project that blends transit services with modern technology.
Addressing the gathering via an online platform, Kollie was quick to dismiss rumors that the project was a calculated move to launch a political career in Bomi County.
“I have no intention of contesting in Bomi County. I did not build the bus stop because of politics,” Kollie clarified. “I love my people. A life of dignity, respect, and self-accomplishment is what they deserve. Either we give them the best and do it the best way, or we don’t do it at all.”
Kollie noted that the project was designed to challenge the “substandard” nature of public works often provided to rural communities.
“This modern multipurpose bus stop sends a simple message: whenever you want to do something for our people, it must be done to the highest standard… You cannot throw just anything at them. They deserve the very best,” he remarked.
The new facility departs from traditional Liberian bus stops by offering a suite of modern amenities intended to serve as a community hub. The Smart bus stop includes: Global Connectivity: A Starlink High-Speed Internet System, entertainment: Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) featuring over 100 channels, hybrid Power: Solar-powered lights and poles complemented by LEC connectivity, universal Access: Inclusion of ramps for Persons with Disabilities (Disabled Friendly), and comfort: Customized seating and high-end aesthetic finishes.
The activist’s move to invest in local infrastructure while in exile has sparked significant conversation on social media, with many viewing it as a challenge to sitting lawmakers to prioritize high-standard development in their respective districts.
Commending the gesture, Andrew Werlay Jaye, Jr, took to Facebook to congratulate Martin K. N. Kollie and the Martin Kollie Foundation for this wondrously constructed multipurpose bus-stop in Klay, Bomi County.
