The Soccer Missionaries are currently in transit through Accra, Ghana, before flying to Turkey en route to Algeria with a full delegation that includes players, technical staff, and journalists.
Fassell played to a goalless draw against the Algerian champions in the first leg at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, leaving everything to play for in the return fixture.
A win or a scoring draw this weekend in Algiers will be enough to secure their passage to the second Preliminary Round of Africa’s Premier Club Competition.
Coach: “No Favorite in the Return Match”
Speaking after the first leg, head coach Amir Alagić dismissed suggestions that the North African side hold the upper hand.
“This is a fifty-fifty situation,” Alagić told reporters. “With all due respect to MC Alger, I don’t believe anyone is a favorite in the away match.”
However, the Bosnian tactician admitted that his side is still wrestling with pre-season fatigue, which he believes tilted the balance in favor of their opponents during the first encounter.
