Morris V. Ware, a passionate fan of the Soccer Missionaries, told FrontPage Africa (FPA) that while Fassell displayed tactical discipline and ball control during last weekend’s first leg at the SKD Sports Complex, their inability to convert scoring opportunities remains a major concern.
“First, let me commend Coach Amir Alagic, his technical staff, and the players for holding MC Alger to a goalless draw at home,” Ware said.
“But if Fassell are to progress, they must improve their finishing. Chances were created, but the team failed to put the ball in the back of the net.”
Fassell has travel to Algiers for the return leg on Saturday, September 27, 2025, knowing that only a draw with goals or win can qualify to the next round of the competition.

Ware particularly called on the midfield and attacking units to step up, saying their wastefulness in Monrovia could prove costly away from home. “They must learn from their mistakes and make use of their scoring opportunities. If they allow MC Algers to control the game, it will be very difficult to come back,” he cautioned.
Despite this being FC Fassell’s first appearance in CAF champions league, expectations are high. Ware believes that with determination, sharper finishing, and strong defensive discipline, the Liberian champions can deliver away from home.
“The dream of reaching the group stage is alive,” Ware added. “But it will take goals, not just good football. The team must fight to score and prevent their opponents from scoring. That is the only way Liberia’s flag will continue to fly high in this year’s Champions League.”
