The Editor,
Good day, most of the people going for public office are former Senators or representatives.
We have George Weah, Jewel Taylor, Nuquay etc. but most of the media houses aren’t asking them about their huge salaries. people are just arguing based on partisan politics.
Recently, Kenya is planning to reduce salaries of the President, vice and lawmakers – READ
Kenya is reducing salaries because they feel its slowing down their development, currently our lawmakers makers make more than Kenya President, Kenya generates 70 times more revenue.
Kenya GDP is 10 times bigger than Liberia, their economy is bigger and standard of living is way higher, and they are cutting down salaries because they feel it is slowing development down (they are top 10 most developed country in Africa) the small money Liberia makes to improve is being used to pay more huge salaries to lawmakers.
Can we ask all those representatives and Senators going for public office what they think about cost of running a government.
John Thompson,
Monrovia, Liberia
