UNDP Boosts logistics capacity of University of Liberia Economics Department

Monrovia  – The United |Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has turned over US$25,000 worth of equipment for use by the department of economics of the University of Liberia.

This is part of efforts aimed at refurbishing the Research and Resource Center of the department.

It came as a request made by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) through UNDP’s Strengthening Capacity for Development Effectiveness (C4DE) project.

The intent is to build capacity of students of economics in economic modelling and forecasting techniques.

UNDP’s Team Leader for Sustainable Economic Transformation, Dorsla Farcarthy stressed that capacity development continues to be a “Heartbeat for the agency, which remains a reliable partner to the government’s recovery processes.

Farcarthy urged his colleagues to ensure that the logistical supplies are put into adequate use.

Liberia’s Comptroller General Janga Cole, received the items on behalf of MFDP, pledging the government’s commitment to improving the educational system nation-wide.

Cole applauded UNDP for the continued partnership and support being demonstrated, pledging that the items will be put to proper use.

Items turned over include 15 Computer Desktops, 10 Laptop Computers, One Printer, cartridges, toners and other accessories. The catalytic funding is also expected to cover internet subscription and some refurbishment among others.
