Speaking to FrontPageAfrica Tuesday the head of the group Jeremiah Testimony Barclay said their action is geared on calling on the international community to put an end to what he called giving money to the government of Liberia until a full audit can be conducted to create check and balance.
He explained that Liberian government officials usually tell the international community about people affected by problems in slum communities and other parts of the country but when such money are provided to them, they are often diverted into private accounts or into private use.
“At that particular occasion we will be telling the international community not to give a dime, I mean a cent, to this regime until we can conduct financial audit, performance, as well procurement audit so as to authenticate all of the money that our international partners who have always felt and sympathized with our condition”, Barclay asserted.
He continued “they have seen on television, radio, on the internet and they have always invested huge sum of money to help transform our life in those various sectors like education, health, agriculture, road network, but to our dismay, this wicked, heartless and careless government does not have interest in the poor people and how they are living and are getting rich to the detriment of the poor people. The July 26th celebration is needless because it is surrounded by those who have money and ridding luxury cars”.
According to him, transparency international and other watchdogs in and out of the country have refused to check on how their monies are spent. In that, he is calling on the international community to investigate how those monies were spent in the country.
He explained: “ as per the statistics we have gotten from the transparency international and other watchdog institutions in and outside the country but as you can see international community has refused to do a check as to whereas all of the money they have been sending was use for those intended purposes
“We will also be telling the international community if they do not immediately investigate, we will refer to them as the group of international body who is supporting bad governance in our country”, he concluded.
