Kakata, Margibi – The Chairperson of the Steering Committee of the ‘Governing Council’ of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Chief Cyril A. Allen, is urging the government to redirect its focus to by hiring capable Liberians from the opposition block to assist salvage the Liberian economy, which is now in tattered.
Chief Allen said the ruling party lacks the quality of personnel to properly manage the economy of the country.
“The quality of personnel to manage our economy dwells in our nation; they are not outside of the country. We must identify them; we must test them, evaluate them and utilize them effectively for our national development efforts,” Chief Allen noted.
Speaking in an exclusive interview to FrontPageAfrica on his farm in Konala town over the weekend, Chief Allen alleged that the CDC-led government is not employing base on “competency” but on “party affiliation.”
“We are still in that elementary stage of ‘your time’, ‘our time.’ ‘This is Sawyer’s man, Ellen’s man, Taylor’s man.’ We don’t need that now,” the Chairman Emeritus of the National Patriotic Party (NPP), one of three political parties making up the ruling CDC, said.
He stressed the need for the President George Weah’s administration to adopt the posture that all professionals in the country, void of political alignment, must be utilized for the governance of the country.
Chief Allen intimated that the CDC-led government must unconditionally consider the broad interests of all and further galvanize all Liberians to assist in the development process of the country.
“We have to identify the human resources from various political parties and place them in key decision-making positions; give them the type of supports that they need to revise our national economy. It is possible, we have those people here who worked, developed the economy in past governments,” Chief Allen recommended.
He wants the government to desist from the practice of partisanship and bring into the administration Liberians with high technological experience and education to help the regime achieves its goals.
He frowned on those government or party officials who brand their fellow Liberians for their affiliation with past government. He added: “It is now time to stop this separation and segregation, bring qualified and competent Liberians, who are available in the country into government.”
The ruling party’s Governing Council Steering Committee Chairman asserted that in order to remedy the country’s broken economy, the quality of personnel nominated to decision-making positions must be diligent and vigilant with the skills to maneuver the economy locally and internationally.
He added: “We cannot have conventional bureaucrats making key decisions now because conventional decisions are straight-line and straight forward. In this worldwide economic recession period, we need analysts and individuals, who have the capacity to understand the prevailing economic situation and adjust accordingly.”
Meanwhile, Chief Allen believes that the time is now for the government to shift its attention from donor dependency and galvanize its strength and focus to the industrialization of the country’s abundance resources.
