Monrovia – The president of 3rd Division outfit, Baako FC, is calling on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) to help clubs in their division c at the various sub-committee leagues with a subsidy.
According to O’Neal Roberts, he wants the LFA to set aside a subsidy for clubs in the third division so that the league can be stronger.
Roberts noted that grassroot of Liberian football starts from teams from the 3rd Division level and he thinks if the FA can focus part of its attention on the development of this division with financial assistance, many hidden talents will be discovered for select on the various youth teams U-17 and U-23 national squads.
“Officials of LFA know very well that majority of the current players on the national football team played in the third division league; so as president of one of the current third division teams in the country, I am appealing to them to give some support to all third division teams in the coming 2019/2020 LFA national league.” Robert said.
Roberts emphasized that they as sponsors of the third division team’s ambition is to help better prepare the future football stars of Liberia through the third division league but the majority of them lack the financial strength.
He highlighted that during the LFA just-ended 2019 league only first, second, female and teams from the association’s community league were given financial assistance. He maintained that no third division team benefited from such subsidy.
He is appealing to the LFA to also have a serious focus on the third division teams’ transfers.
