3 LISCR Players Ruled Out of Continental Match with Maranatha FC
Monrovia – The Shipping Boys of LISCR FC will play their first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round against Maranatha FC of Togo without the services of central defender Dirkir Glay, striker Christopher Jackson and winger Edward Ledlum the club announced on it official website.
The trio were ruled out of the team to play the first leg in Togo after picking up injuries on international duties with the local based Liberian team against Senegal in the CHAN qualifiers.
Glay suffered a hamstring in the first leg at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium and was substituted less than 10 minutes after the kickoff.
Glay’s injury was followed by Christopher Jackson and Edward Ledlum who sustained in the return leg in Dakar.
Christopher Jackson was forced to leave the pitch in during the return leg after 47 minutes of play. Like Christopher, Ledlum got a knock in the match in the Lone Star’s 3-0 defeat away at Senegal.
The three players are key to LISCR with Jackson scoring 17 goals in the league and eight goals in the club and two goals for Liberia in his last three games.
The striker is in the best form of his career and his presence upfront for the shipping boys could be good for them in such match but they now have to choose between Kelvin Kollie and new signing Mark Karly
Glay after returning from Asia to regain his form at home proved to be the real deal in defense for LISCR and his absence will be real missed by Tapha Manneh.
The experienced defender is to be replaced by club captain Emmanuel Tarpeh while Ledlum’s pace and skills will be missed down the other flank as the club will now have to depend on Sam Jackson who assisted over 20 goals all season.
However, the trio is expected to recover in time for the return leg at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium on August 26.
