The party called on supporters, well-wishers and sympathizers to rally support for Rep. Koffa ahead for the much publicized speaker election.
Addressing a news conference in Monrovia on Friday, December 1, 2023, CDC National Chairman, Mulbah Morlu, said the decision of the party follows extensive internal consultations between the National Executive Committee and the CDC legislative caucus.
Chairman Morlu noted that the election of Rep. Koffa as speaker will ensure a regionally and politically balanced government.
“Given the thin nature of the election returns, a balanced government regionally and politically, is in the best interest of the Liberian people”, Morlu said.
“In this light, the party intends to support its caucus quest for the speaker position and have endorsed the candidacy of Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa”, he continued.
The CDC National Chairman described Cllr. Koffa as a well balanced political and regional partisan, as its sole candidate for speaker.
He therefore called on all independents and like minded members of the incoming 55th legislature to support Cllr. Koffa as the consensus candidate.
