Gbarnga, Bong County – Broom-waving supporters of Independent candidate Henrique Tokpa took to the streets of Gbarnga Thursday night to celebrate his victory as senator-elect of Bong County.

The National Elections Commission (NEC) Thursday formally announced Tokpa as the winner of Tuesday’s by-election in the county.
The victorious Tokpa supporters went around Gbarnga in motorcades comprising commercial motorcycles and buses singing and chanting praises of the senator-elect.
Shouts of ‘Dr in the building’ rent the air at Far East junction, Serengeti parking, Phebe parking and other parts of Gbarnga.
Tokpa supporters sang winner oooooh, winner, winner o o o winner, Dr. Tokpa you don win o, winner.
On sighting Tokpa supporters, resident trooped out from their houses and joined them to celebrate Tokpa’s victory.
Some of Tokpa supporters who spoke expressed happiness that he was finally able to win after he lost the 2014 election to Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.
