FrontPageAfrica’s inquiry into the matter was prompted by a social media post by talk show host Henry Costa who claimed there was a massive corruption scandal at the entity involving the Managing Director Duanah Kamara, the Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services McArthur Wesseh Hilton, and the Deputy Managing Director for Administration Moseray Momo.
Costa alleged the trio, under the guise of buying water treatment chemicals siphoned the amount of US$1.5 million and diverted the money into personal use.
The LWSC in an earlier reaction to the allegation stated:
“At no point in time did the Managing Director, Hon. Duannah A. Kamara, Deputy Managing Director for Technical Services, Hon. McArthur Hilton, Deputy Managing Director for Administration, Hon. Moseray Momoh, Acting Comptroller, Hon Archiel Varmah got involved with any act of corruption neither were any of them invited to the LACC for investigation as claimed by Henry P. Costa in his Facebook post.
“The LWCS condemns Henry P. Costa’s action on his yesterday February 21, 2022, Facebook post and is calling on the general public to remain calm and not to take the information seriously as the institution is doing all it can to improve the Water and Sewage system of our beloved country.”
One of the managers accused by Costa told FrontPageAfrica that Costa had contacted him on the issue. He said, having informed Costa that the information was untrue, he observed that Costa remained adamant and went on to post the misinformation to Facebook.
“Some people are bent on tarnishing the reputation of others maybe for gains. The information is totally untrue and I told him that it was wrong, without carrying out his independent investigation, he accused all of us on Facebook,” he said.
He added, “Maybe he thought by posting to Facebook, we will panic and call him to offer him money to cease, but what is there to hide? What wrong did we do? The records are there for everyone to see.”
