MONROVIA – Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott and her family have categorically expressed their reservations about the preliminary report released by the Liberia National Police following what many believe was an assassination attempt on her life that led to the brutal stabbing of her children, causing the death of one. The incident took place at the Brewerville home of the former Chief Justice between 9-10pm last Thursday.

The Liberia National Police released one of the swiftest reports ever seen, stating that their preliminary findings into last Thursday’s incident suggested that a man who was part of a crew hired to carry out some construction and electrical work at her residence hid inside the house after the day’s work, his colleagues retired for the day.
The man, whom former Chief Justice Scott said she had observed during the day looking somewhat “strange”, attacked her family at night and killed one of her daughters when he was tackled.
The police reported that the preliminary investigation shows no evidence of a break-in. They also maintained that they are currently in search of the suspected robbers and urged the public to come forth with any information that will aid their investigation.
However, Cllr. Scott and the Musu Family have raised some issues with the police preliminary report and indicated that it may have been pre-determined.
Cllr. Scott maintained that the government was made aware through the Police Depot in Brewerville and the Minister of Justice after the first, second, and even the third attacks, which saw the gruesome murder of her daughter, Charloe Musu, a prospective graduate of Star University College, the stabbing of Alice Johnson, wounding of Gertrude Newton, and the attempt on her life.
“On Thursday, February 23, 2023, less than 24 hours after the assassination attack on us at our Brewerville residence, the government through the Liberian National Police – LNP, issued a statement insinuating that the assassin might have been a domestic worker only because there had been hired electricians working in the house on that fateful day, even though there were two initial attacks on the 8th and 9th of February 2013, two nights in a row, which were reported to the Police. This clearly suggests to us that the Police knew the facts even before conducting the investigation,” she stated.
She further stated: “Let us make it clear that when these two previous attacks took place, there were no contractors and interestingly the attackers did not take any valuables. Instead, they searched every document they could lay their hands on, giving us reason to believe that the attacks, which resulted in the death of a promising young woman, were also meant to recover some documents they perceived or believed we had in our possession. They also disabled some systems in her car, which, from all indications, appeared to have been another means of carrying out the criminal plan. To make the attacks seem like a burglary, they took away a 25kg bag of rice as much as we can record.
“It is important to note that since the third attack, gruesome murder, and taking away of former Chief Justice Scott’s personal laptops and phones, which again was reported to the Police on Wednesday between 10 to 11 pm, no arrest has been made. When the Police arrived on the scene, they took away the two Private Security officers and a male family member of ours (Uncle Chumu). Following the last two attacks, Uncle Chumu, seeing that the government didn’t lift a finger to provide any form of protection for the former Chief Justice and her family, decided to spend the nights with us to help keep watch along with the Private Security. These three men, to the best of our knowledge, are still in Police custody.”
In her interview with journalists last Friday following the incident, Cllr. Scott questioned the motives of the armed attack on her residence and the failure of the police to have responded to the first two attacks though they were duly informed.
“What did I do? My people, what did I do to people who want my life? Y’all please ask the question, y’all who are my side. What are you people hearing that I did? I don’t want to be President, I don’t want to be senator or chairman for any political party here, so why are they after me?” she asked in disbelief.
She explained that the armed robber kept asking her daughter for the keys when he was already inside the house. “Apparently, he wanted to open the door for the others to come in,” she said.
The former Chief Justice explained that she went into her bathroom to scream for rescue as her daughter was being stabbed multiple times by the robber and at the same time requesting for the keys to the house.
She said she narrowly escaped when she sprayed pepper spray on the eyes of the armed robber.
She explained that Charloe’s mother and other siblings are preparing to come to Monrovia to attend her graduation in November from Starz College.
“It was just yesterday she brought all of her papers to graduate in November, her parents and siblings upon hearing about her graduation said they were going to goldmine to hustle so they can come to their daughter’s graduation,” she said.
Cllr. Scott said phones and laptop computer were taken away by the robber.
