Liberia: NPA Sends 11 Staff to Ghana for Specialized Maritime Master’s Programs

Monrovia — The National Port Authority (NPA) has dispatched 11 employees to the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra, Ghana, to pursue specialized master’s degree programs in port and maritime studies as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s professional capacity.

According to a release, the employees were selected through a standardized internal aptitude test and a rigorous vetting process, according to the NPA.

The delegation departed Liberia on Saturday, October 3, accompanied by Madam Vashti Hanna Sirleaf, Executive Director for Human Resources.

The training initiative forms part of Pillar Two of the NPA’s RESET Five-Year Strategic Plan, which places emphasis on human resource development and building the technical capacity required to modernize Liberia’s port operations.

Under the leadership of Managing Director Sekou A. M. Dukuly, the NPA said the initiative reflects management’s commitment to developing a highly skilled workforce capable of supporting the modernization, efficiency and competitiveness of Liberia’s ports.

The specialized programs at the Regional Maritime University are expected to equip the beneficiaries with advanced knowledge and professional skills relevant to port management and the broader maritime sector.

The NPA management congratulated the 11 beneficiaries and urged them to pursue their studies with discipline and excellence while representing both the institution and Liberia with distinction.

The initiative comes as Liberia seeks to strengthen its maritime and port infrastructure and develop the human-resource capacity needed to support the country’s growing role in regional and international maritime commerce.
