Monrovia- Monrovia – Residents of electoral District #12 Montserrado County on Saturday, March 25, 2017 petitioned sitting Representative Richmond S. Anderson to re-contest the upcoming elections.
The petition ceremony which took place at the Richard C. Hunter sport pitch brought together cross section of residents from all of the communities within the district.
Reading the petition statement on behalf of the people of District #12, Jackson Farfolay said the people of electoral District #12 are satisfied with the level of development achieved in the district under his leadership, and as such come October of 2017 he will remain.
“We the political inhabitants of electoral District #12 Montserrado County Republic of Liberia guided by the magnificent words of the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia and having carefully observed, investigated, scrutinize and hypnotize both religiously,politicallyand economically have decided to maintain you as our representative’’ Farfolay said.
He describes Anderson as a true son of the soil, who is ready and qualified to serve the people of electoral District #12 for another six years.
He said Anderson has met all criteria set under chapter five (5) article thirty (30) A) and B) of the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia which stated that “you must reach the age of thirty or above to contest for the senate and 25 or above to contest for the representative seat, be a resident of said community one year before the election and been a regular tax payer in other to contest for a seat in the house”.
Accepting the petitioning Rep. Anderson thanked the residents of the district for trusting him and believing in his leadership ability. He said, “you have been with me for six good years, you have worked with me and you have worked for me”.
Rep. Anderson said the work has just begun and as such the district will not be gamble in the hands of political hustlers.
“This district will not be given to political jokers, this district will not be given to political grass hopper,” he reiterated.
He said it is time that the residents of the area put their houses in order and start working for the betterment of their district.
Also speaking, Mary Tweh a student of the Smythe Institute of Technology and management labeled Rep. Anderson as a true educator.
“We the students at Smyth are supporting Hon. Anderson because of his interest and support for education over the years,” she said.
For his part, the Chairman of the District Development Council, Nathan T. S. Foko said his team is fully in support of Anderson’s political ambition to contest highest seat in the district, adding that he looks forward to working with him.
Chairman Foko used the occasion to also call on all well-meaning residents of district#12 to support the political ambition of Rep. Anderson; something he said would foster the growth and development of the district.
On behalf of the Inman Council, Sekou Swaray assured Rep. Richmond Anderson that the Muslim in electoral District #12, were fully prepared and ready to support his quest for the district’s highest political seat in the October 2017 elections.
