Monrovia – After several audit reports linked the Liberia National Red Cross to squandering funds, the institution new code of officers have been urged to restore the damaged image of the institution.
The statement was made during the induction ceremony of the newly elected officers of the LNRC in Monrovia, after its general elections of code officers for the next four years for the smooth and forward match of the institution.
The election result ended in favor of Mr. Jerome N. Clarke as president along with Florence B.S. Nepay 1st Vice President, D. Mongar Grigsby 2nd Vice President, and Joseph T. Nagbe 3rd Vice President, Arthur L. Gliklay, Treasurer and Zoway Zobah as youth representative respectively.
The LNRCS said it would continue to play a humanitarian role in the restoration of peace and hope to Liberians and its international partners around the globe through the newly elected leadership.
The LNRCS urged Liberians and its partners to remain hopeful and promised that it would never revert to the past challenges that brought the organization to public criticism and disgrace.
Accepting the elections result in a short remark, the President elect said his leadership would make sure that the image of the Liberia National Red Cross Society be restored.
Mr. Clarke added that the LNRCS image has been damage to the national government and its international partners due to weak leadership and poor governance.
He promised that under his administration the institution would regain its status.
He used the occasion to call on all newly elected officials, members, and partners of the LNRC to join hands together for the common good of the institution.
“We will work with our partners to ensure that our integrity is restored to our noble institution.”
“We have an issue with corruption and others ills like transparency, accountability and to keep our image in a positive manner,” he said.
He urged all officials elected to work together to ensure that the institution proud and dignity is throughout the land and birth of the country.
