Monrovia – A violence free elections is and continues to be major concern for many Liberians, especially the women.
The women who normally gathered to stand in the gap for Liberia during difficult times came together in their number to prayer and sing praises for a peaceful election.
Over the weekend, ten mass choirs along with ten gospel musical artists stormed the St. Peter Church edifice singing songs and offering prayers for Liberia as the nation gears toward one of the most decisive election in its history.
Prayers and praises could not have been heard anywhere better than the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Sinkor; with women making the most of those in attendance.
The program under the theme; “Putting God first” organized by the Liberia Gospel was meant to bring the country closer to God during the time of elections.
Giving the deep spiritual history behind the nation, Bishop Jonathan Foxx said God took Liberia from nowhere to somewhere. He urged Liberians to seek the intervention of God in this year elections.
In order for the nation to progress, Bishop Foxx cautions the congregation to elect a God fearing person as their next leader.
Bishop Foxx said, Liberians should pray for a God fearing leader instead of moving from one party to another.
“Today you are seeing them in MacDella Cooper T-shirt but before then they wore six different candidates T-shirt,”.
All the 20 presidential candidates were invited to invoke the spirit of God in the manifesto but the only female presidency candidates in this 2017 election madam MacDella Cooper was the only one to show up.
Giving remark, the Liberia Restoration Party Standard Bearer, MacDella Cooper said the country has lots of possibilities in reaching its promise land, adding that people need to elect the right leadership.
“We had many years in the wilderness but today we are free people. “Are we going to put wrong spirit there to spoil it for us again?” Madam Cooper added.
Cooper continues: “I want to stand in the leadership of this nation because I understand that God did not create us as a people to suffer”, “That who can suffer it the most?
Aren’t they women and children and young people, my mothers, my sisters, my brothers, my fathers? We should not try to make this mistake again.”
Despite been new on the political stage the LRP Standard Bearer envisaged a new day for Liberia adding that she is committed to doing such.
According to Madam Cooper, the Liberia Restoration party will restored Liberia to its original Christian State.
She said: “When we put Christ at the center of our country, we will do better in this nation. We have got to start doing a thing the way God wants.”
Madam Cooper furthered that she is in the struggle to create a better Liberia to take care of its citizens.
The LRP Standard Bearer said this election is the time for a new generation to take over the country and do what is right.
“Many of our evil previous leaders build their bridges to their success. When they saw the young people coming they broke down the bridges and said the young people should start all over”.
The Presidential hopeful said under her government both parents will be empowered in order to up keep family.
“Because of the lack of opportunities given to the men, the women in this country are now serving as bread winner for their family” Cooper said she is going to get rid of that during her administration.
“I know our fathers are good people, it is just our current economy does not permit them to be the men they deserve and the men they want to be, but I will create enough jobs so that we put our men back to work” Cooper said.
