Liberian Wives Association Breaks Ground for Multi-Purpose Building in Brewerville City

Brewerville – A group of women under the banner the Liberian Wives International has broken ground for the construction of a multi-purpose building in the Kpekor, Zeebgor Town in Parker Corner Community, Brewerville City.

The Liberian Wives International is a Liberian-based association of married women who champions the importance of married Liberian women around the world.  

The women, most of whom are professional women envisage a world in which all Liberian wives, regardless of tribal status, race, ethnicity, income level or social status are nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential in their marriages. 

The organization was founded by Madam Catherine B. Moore-Guerrero. A Liberian based in the United States of America.

Quita Whea Roberts is the president of the Liberian Wives International Liberia’s Chapter. Addressing the gathering, she praised the community people for giving her organization a two lots of land for the construction of a multi-purpose building.

According to Mrs. Roberts, gone are the days when people used to think that Liberian women are unable to work in unison.  

“They say that women cannot work together but we have the change the narrative to that. Because of the Liberian Wives International, this place is going to be a youth empowerment center. The women and children are going to benefit from this place,” Mrs. Roberts said. 

She added: “We will have a clinic, we will have vocational school. We have to empower our women and we are here to build stronger marriages in our Liberian community. This time around divorce will not be possible. Mark this day, Liberians Wives will make history in this community.” 

“For now, we are 3000 women together and more are still adding every day,” Madam Roberts ended.

Also Mrs. Victoria Peabody speaking on behalf of the Liberian Wives International founder Madam Catherine B. Moore-Guerrero called on Liberian women to hold together and help contribute to the development of their country.

Mrs. Peabody who recently return from America said: “Imaging that, we were strangers, some of you knew one another, some of us met casually but today we are all sisters and here we are doing a groundbreaking for this project that we are about to embark on.” 

She praised the town chief for making the land possible adding they will go to change the lives of the people in the community.

Also serving as a guest of honor at the groundbreaking and launching ceremony was Cassandra L. Hampton. Madam Hampton is the Chief Executive Officer of Golden Touch Corporation and the owner of the 2lots. 

She told the gathering that in 2017, she purchased the land as her future home. Madam Hampton said she is glad that the land which was meant to build her future home is now being used to empower youths including young women and girls.

“You know, this is our country and we will not expect people to come from out there and build this place, we need to do it ourselves. We will have to see the need to improve our society, our economy,” Madam Hampton said.

She added: “To the community people here, I will tell you today that this is a great opportunity that just being afforded to you. You should not give the people problem. You should be able to contribute something because the project is going to be implemented in your own backyard. If they need men’s power if they need to cook food don’t put money business in front.”

“I am not saying that you should not be compensated but you should be able to do this thing with a willing heart because at the end of the day, it is you who will benefit from this project,” Madam Hampton said.

Adding up, the General Town Chief of Zeegblor Town Momo Wiles promised to work closely with the organization to ensure the project becomes a success.

Mr. Wiles said, “This property that you brought, feel free. You got this property from the original people that own it. What so ever you will be doing here will be protected by the community.”
