Liberian Match Officials Receive CAF, WAFU-A, and FIFA Appointments

MONROVIA — Liberian match officials are set for a busy period on the international stage, with several officials from the country receiving prestigious appointments from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the West African Football Union (WAFU-A), and FIFA.

CAF Champions League

CAF has designated four Liberian officials to take charge of an upcoming fixture between Rangers International FC and MC Alger.

Washington Dolo has been appointed as the central referee, with Joel Doe and Thomas Konneh serving as assistant referees. Emmanuel Mensah completes the officiating team as the fourth official. This assignment represents another significant opportunity for Liberian match officials to showcase their competence at the elite continental level.

WAFU-A U-20 Boys Tournament

WAFU-A has selected three Liberians for the upcoming regional tournament, scheduled for October 15–30, 2026, in Bamako, Mali. Dolo will again serve as a center referee, while Konneh has been named an assistant referee. Additionally, Borris Weah will serve as a general coordinator for the competition, which acts as a crucial platform for youth development in West African football

FIFA Olympic Qualifiers

Adding further to Liberia’s growing international representation, FIFA has appointed two Liberian female referees for the 2028 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament preliminary match between Malawi and Zimbabwe, scheduled for October 9, 2026. Love T. Wehyee will serve as the central referee, with Tracy Chayee appointed as assistant referee one.

These appointments highlight the expanding footprint and reliability of Liberian match officials in international competitions, offering them platforms to fly the national flag beyond the country’s borders.

The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has congratulated the appointed officials, wishing them success as they carry Liberia’s banner on the continental and international stages.
