Liberia: Weah Congratulates Motsepe, But Snubs Raji’s CAF Victory

Some have speculated that Weah may be shifting his political and football allegiance, with Kuoh’s potential candidacy for the LFA presidency seen as a possible source of tension with Raji.

Monrovia – Former Liberian President George Weah has congratulated Patrice Motsepe on his re-election as President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), a post he secured unopposed.

However, Weah did not acknowledge the recent achievement of Mustapha Raji, President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), who was re-elected to the CAF Executive Committee.

While serving as president in March 2021, Weah publicly congratulated Raji for his appointment, commending his leadership and the progress made under his tenure.

In a message shared via social media, Weah praised Motsepe for his commitment to advancing African football but omitted any mention of Raji’s re-election despite its significance for Liberia.

Raji’s re-election has sparked curiosity among some observers, especially given Weah’s close ties with FC Fassell President Cassell Kuoh. Some have speculated that Weah may be shifting his political and football allegiance, with Kuoh’s potential candidacy for the LFA presidency seen as a possible source of tension with Raji.
