MONROVIA – Renowned musician Teddy Ride finds himself unintentionally embroiled in a power theft controversy, as confirmed by Madam Mary Broh, the head of the special task force on power theft. Speculations suggesting intentional wrongdoing by the artist have been debunked by Madam Broh.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when Liberia’s superstar was visited by the Anti Power Theft unit of the Liberia Electricity Cooperation. The unit alleged that Teddy Ride’s residence was utilizing electricity without proper authorization. Consequently, the team disconnected and confiscated the meter, wiring, and other electrical supply sources.
Teddy Ride, who had recently returned from abroad, expressed his ignorance about his home receiving electricity without proper authorization. He claimed to be unaware of any unauthorized connection.
Following a thorough investigation by the Power Theft Unit, Madam Mary Broh clarified that indeed Teddy Ride’s house was involved in power theft, but it was not orchestrated with the artist’s knowledge. She pointed out that the unauthorized connection was the result of the actions of Teddy Ride’s housemaid.
