Monrovia – The Supreme Court of Liberia has formally cited Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, commonly known as ‘Prophet Key’, to appear before the Full Bench of the Court to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court for what the Court described as continuous and sustained verbal attacks against the Chief Justice of Liberia and other members of the judiciary.

The citation was issued through a communication from the Office of the Clerk of the Supreme Court dated February 4, 2026. According to the Court, ‘Prophet Key’ is accused of directing repeated invectives at the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, the Supreme Court as an institution, and other Justices of the Bench. The Court stated that these actions have subjected the judiciary to public ridicule and disrepute.
Signed by Supreme Court Clerk Sam Mamulu, the communication instructs ‘Prophet Key’ to appear before the Full Bench of the Supreme Court on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at the Temple of Justice in Monrovia. The purpose of the appearance is for him to explain why he should not be adjudged in contempt of court for his statements and conduct.
The Supreme Court’s move reflects what it described as a necessary response to conduct that threatens the dignity, authority, and integrity of the judicial branch of government. Under Liberian law, contempt proceedings may be initiated when an individual’s actions or statements are deemed to undermine public confidence in the judiciary or interfere with the administration of justice.
Although the Court did not publicly outline the specific statements attributed to ‘Prophet Key’, it emphasized that the alleged remarks were persistent and severe, prompting the intervention of the nation’s highest court.
‘Prophet Key’, who is known as a religious man and public commentator on national issues, has not yet issued a public response to the citation. It also remains unclear whether he intends to appear before the Court in person or through legal representation when the matter is heard.
