Monrovia – Representative Tibelrosa Tarponweh of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC-District #1 Margibi County) has instructed his Chief of Office Staff to immediately return to the Executive Branch of Government through the Office of the of the Chief Clerk the invitation package for the Independence Day celebration.

In his instruction to his office staff, the CDC lawmaker said, he cannot be part of activities leading to the independence celebration while thousands of his constituents, who are flood victims, suffer with nothing being done to address the situation by those responsible government entities.
“Since the flood started displacing our people, we have issued SOS calls for those responsible, but they have done nothing. So, I am protesting on behalf of my people. I am in solidarity with my people and the insensitivity exhibited in government cycles is just wrong.
“This is no time for big speeches and rhetoric. They are playing lipped service. This is a moral challenge I want to take on government,’’ he emphasized.
According to the ruling CDC lawmaker, all efforts to see the President has not materialized because of the bureaucracy around him and that he has also tried to reach out to people very close to the Presidency and it hasn’t been favorable.
Flood last week hit the highway leading up the Roberts International Airport in Lower Margibi County, impeding the smooth movement of travellers.
The flood forced the deployment of personnel from the Navy Battalion of the Armed Forces of Liberia, which has one of its military barracks few miles away. The AFL personnel used a boat to cross those traveling from one destination to the other.
