Monrovia – Grand Gedeh County Electoral District #2 Representative Marie G. Johnson has emphasized the importance of unity, reflection, and professional growth during a two-day retreat held over the weekend for staff of her legislative office.
Speaking at both the opening and closing sessions of the 2024–2025 Office Retreat, themed “From Reflection to Action: 2024–2025 in Review and Forward Planning,” Rep. Johnson welcomed staff members, invited guests, and members of the media, and expressed appreciation for their continued dedication and support to the work of her office.
The lawmaker described the retreat as a strategic break from routine responsibilities, designed to allow the team to assess its performance and progress over the past year.
According to Rep. Johnson, the gathering provided an opportunity for staff to review accomplishments, learn from challenges encountered, and identify practical measures to strengthen service delivery to residents of Electoral District #2.
She noted that despite facing several challenges during the period under review, the office remained focused on addressing constituents’ needs and recorded notable achievements.
Rep. Johnson explained that the retreat was also intended to boost staff morale, enhance teamwork, improve internal systems, and strengthen communication within the office.
She stressed that the exercise went beyond evaluating past activities, as it also focused on equipping staff with effective strategies and best practices to improve performance in the year ahead.
At the close of the retreat, Rep. Johnson called for sustained openness, mutual respect, and active participation among staff members. She encouraged honest self-assessment, shared learning, and constructive engagement, noting that every contribution is vital to building a stronger, more responsive legislative office.
She concluded by commending her staff for their professionalism and dedication, expressing confidence that the outcomes of the retreat would translate into improved efficiency and more effective service delivery to constituents.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, Chief of Office Staff Lawrence Yeoh thanked Rep. Johnson for the time, care, and commitment invested in organizing the two-day retreat.
He said the retreat provided not only a welcome pause from daily responsibilities, but also a meaningful opportunity for staff to reflect, reconnect, and realign with the mission and values of the office.
Mr. Yeoh added that Rep. Johnson’s leadership was evident throughout the retreat, both in the vision she articulated and the trust she placed in her team, as well as the attention she continues to give to their professional growth.
He concluded that the staff are returning to work renewed in purpose, strengthened in collaboration, and deeply appreciative of the example the Representative continues to set.
