MONROVIA – As part of his first historic Apostolic Visit to Liberia, His Holiness Samuel Theophilus, Metropolitan of the Believers Eastern Church, paid a courtesy visit to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai at his Rehab residence in Paynesville.
The meeting was held in a spirit of cordiality and mutual respect, with both parties emphasizing their shared commitment to peace, human development, and the overall well-being of the Liberian people.
His Holiness was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Geevarghese Mor Makariose, Archbishop of Africa; Reverend Father Daniel Johnson; Reverend Father Sachin Pakhre, Diocesan Vicar and Country Director for Liberia; along with Hon. Dionysius Sebwe, Hon. Kelvin Sebwe, and Senior Pastor Momolu Dukuly.
During the meeting, Mr. Dionysius Sebwe delivered introductory remarks, after which Rev. Fr. Sachin Pakhre presented the members of the delegation and highlighted the mission and ongoing activities of the Church in Liberia.
He outlined several community-focused initiatives, including six transformation programs aimed at supporting vulnerable populations and three football academies designed to empower and mentor young people.
In his remarks, Metropolitan Theophilus provided an overview of the Church’s global ministry, emphasizing its commitment to combining spiritual guidance with social development.
He also announced two major initiatives to be launched during his visit: an adult literacy program expected to benefit approximately 10,000 single mothers, and the construction of a wooden bridge in the swamp communities of Matadi to improve access and living conditions.
President Boakai welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the Church’s contributions to national development. He praised its holistic approach, noting the positive impact of its programs across communities, and shared his vision for Liberia’s continued growth. The President also requested prayers for the nation and its leadership.
The meeting concluded with a prayer offered by His Holiness for the President, government officials, and the people of Liberia. The occasion was marked by an exchange of gifts as a symbol of goodwill and mutual respect.
