Monrovia – The leadership of the Inter-School Sports Association (ISSA) has been urged to extend the league’s reach to all 15 political subdivisions of Liberia.

Daniel Olrroseo Brown, a former ISSA and Young Survival FC player, stressed that although the league is currently held in Bomi, Margibi, Grand Bassa, and Bong counties, it is crucial for ISSA’s current administration, led by President Mr. Gar Zepu, to complete the decentralization process across the country.
Brown added that expanding the school league to all counties will help improve football, basketball, and kickball nationwide. He noted that in the counties where the ISSA league is presently played, local youth have shown remarkable passion for the competition. This enthusiasm not only contributes to their physical fitness but also provides a significant boost to the league and the country as a whole.
He further pointed out that the young athletes participating in the ISSA league have demonstrated the potential to compete at the first and second division levels in both Liberia’s football and basketball leagues, based on their physical fitness and ball control skills.
Brown recounted that most players in the Liberia Football Association (LFA) and Liberia Basketball Association (LBA) first and second division teams were initially spotted playing in the ISSA league before being scouted by their respective clubs.
“We all know that many of the players in the LFA’s first and second division were discovered through the ISSA league. That’s why I’m calling on the ISSA administration to continue the decentralization of the school league. Expanding the league will uncover new talents who can ultimately strengthen our national basketball and football teams,” Brown told our report.
