MARYLAND, Liberia — Maryland County’s legislative caucus is scheduled to hold its first meeting of 2026 on Thursday, February 19, to discuss ongoing matters related to the 2024/2025 County Development Funds (CDF) and review concession agreements in the county.

Senator J. Gble-bo Brown, chair of the caucus, explained in a phone interview with a local radio station on Wednesday that the caucus has not met formally since concerns about the CDF were raised. He noted that the upcoming meeting will allow the legislative body to consider the issues thoroughly and provide guidance as representatives of the county.
“Since the CDF issue was raised, the caucus has not had the opportunity to convene and establish a position. We encourage residents to remain patient as the meeting will provide an opportunity to review the facts and offer recommendations,” Senator Brown said.
The caucus is expected to discuss the status of several county development projects, some of which were listed as “completed” in official reports released by local authorities led by County Superintendent Henry Cole.
In addition to development fund matters, the caucus will discuss the review of concession agreements for the Maryland Oil Palm Plantation (MOPP) and Cavalla Rubber Corporation (CRC), agreements signed in 2011 that have not undergone formal review in recent years.
Earlier in 2025, officials from the National Bureau of Concessions (NBC) visited Maryland County to assess concession operations and gather citizens’ feedback. However, no official report from that visit has been released to date.
Senator Brown emphasized that the caucus will take all factors into consideration to ensure decisions reflect the county’s best interests and promote transparent and effective management of resources.
“The caucus will carefully review both development fund allocations and concession agreements to provide well-informed recommendations,” he said.
