Liberia: LKF Hails Appointment of Cornelia Kruah-Togba as Youth & Sports Minister-Designate

The LKF expressed strong confidence in Kruah-Togba’s ability to drive a transformative agenda, particularly for underrepresented sporting disciplines.

Monrovia – The Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) has formally welcomed the appointment of Madam Cornelia Kruah-Togba as Minister-designate of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS), applauding President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his focus on gender-inclusive governance.

In a press statement released Thursday, January 22, the Federation congratulated the President on the appointment, describing it as a timely move that promises to inject “renewed energy and professionalism” into the nation’s sports and youth sectors.

A Vision for Inclusion

The LKF expressed strong confidence in Kruah-Togba’s ability to drive a transformative agenda, particularly for underrepresented sporting disciplines.

“The Liberia Kickball Federation is confident that Madam Kruah-Togba’s experience and dedication will positively impact the development of sports and youth empowerment across the country,” the statement noted.

As a federation governing a sport primarily played by women and girls in Liberia, the LKF emphasized its eagerness to collaborate with the Minister-designate.

The Federation specifically highlighted the need for Grassroots sports development

Enhanced participation of women and girls in athletics and Stronger institutional partnerships

“The Federation looks forward to a productive partnership aimed at fostering unity, discipline, and national pride through sports,” the leadership added.

Transition of Leadership

The LKF also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the outgoing Minister, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu, thanking him for his service to the sporting community.

Bangalu has been reassigned by the President to serve as the Executive Director of the Liberia Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC).

The statement, signed by the LKF Executive Leadership, reaffirms the federation’s commitment to supporting the Ministry’s agenda as it enters this new chapter under Kruah-Togba’s designated leadership.
