Monrovia – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has clamped down on a growing wave of misconduct within the domestic leagues, announcing a sweeping list of suspensions and fines targeting players, technical staff, and match officials.

The disciplinary actions, announced Tuesday, March 10, follow an extensive review of match officials’ reports and video evidence from recent fixtures in the Men’s First Division, the Women’s Upper Division, and the Third Division.
Heavy Fines and Four-Month Bans
According to a statement from the LFA, several individuals have been barred from all football-related activities for four months. In addition to the playing bans, each sanctioned individual has been slapped with a fine of LRD 50,000 for violating league regulations and breaching professional conduct standards.
The LFA noted that these decisions are intended to “reinforce professionalism and maintain order” as the competitive intensity of the league reaches its peak.
List of Sanctioned Individuals
The disciplinary wave hit the women’s sector particularly hard, with Bushrod Queens and Earth Angels FC seeing significant portions of their squads sidelined.
Bushrod Queens Players suspended include Felicity Asante, Nailea Boimah, Odell E. Togbah, Fatima B. Gboah, and Gifty H. Gboah, while the staff are Head Coach Watchin Harmon and Medic Veronic B. Johnson.
Earth Angels was also hit with two Players suspended, Christina Jappah and Orlet Obey.
In the first division of the Liberian league, FC Bea Mountain players Benjamin K. Doe and Success Wisdom have been suspended for four months, while similar action was taken against
FC Fassell Players: Ahmed Savage and Ibrahim Coulibaly.
Referee Sidelined for “Unprofessional Conduct”
The crackdown also extended to the officiating department. The LFA’s Referee Committee confirmed the three-month suspension of match official Sylvester S. Sayon.
The committee cited “unprofessional conduct” displayed by Sayon following a Third Division match at the Doris Williams Stadium in Grand Bassa County.
While the specific nature of the incident was not detailed, the LFA emphasized that referees are held to the same, if not higher, standards of integrity as the players.
Fassell–Bea Mountain Fallout
The current disciplinary climate follows a chaotic scene at Gompa Stadium during a high-stakes clash between FC Bea Mountain and FC Fassell. Although Bea Mountain secured a narrow 1–0 victory, the match was marred by a violent post-match altercation.
Sources within the LFA suggest that the sanctions announced may only be the beginning.
The Disciplinary Committee is currently reviewing additional video footage and the Match Commissioner’s formal report.
