Mr. Gweh said there has been rumor that he was dismissed and subsequently replaced by James Gborkorquellie.

He lamented that he has not received a letter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, dismissing him from his position but have heard about it.

” I have not received letter from the Internal Affairs Minister regarding my dismissal but other prominent people have told me that I am no longer a Paramount Chief for Jorquelleh District#2″.

He stated that James Gborkorquellie was introduced as the new paramount chief for Jorquelleh at a thanksgiving program held in the district when he had gone to attend the event.

The aggrieved chief argued that the appointment of Gborkorquellie was illegal, and as such, he will not to step down.

Chief Gweh has called on those who believe in his leadership to resist James Gborkorquellie, given to the manner and form in which he ascended to the position.

“I want to ask all my followers not to sit down but should join me for the right thing to be done. Gborkorquellie is not a chief, I am the chief. Appointment of Chief is not something to joke with, it must be done legally.”

He said despite other chiefs in the county have been dismissed mysteriously but the case with him is different.

Initially, the Minister of Internal Affairs has announced that all local chiefs in the county are acting and would be retained or replaced when necessary.

However, the controversial Jorquelleh District #2 Paramount Chief is appealing to civil society organizations to go to his aid.

When Chief Gweh was appointed?

Chief Chief was appointed by former President George Weah on August 10, 2018 as Paramount Chief of Jorquelleh District#2.

Despite spending four years in office, Gweh has not been placed on government payroll.
