MONROVIA – Corporate professional and football administrator Ignatius M. Boakai has officially declared his intention to contest a seat on the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) in the upcoming April elections.
Boakai, a proud son of Lofa County, brings to the race a blend of financial expertise and football management experience with decades in the banking sector.
He currently serves as President of “Liberia’s Darling club” Invincible Eleven, one of Liberia’s historic clubs.
Under his leadership, Invincible Eleven underwent administrative restructuring and strategic planning reforms designed to reposition the club among Liberia’s elite teams.
Boakai has consistently stated that his long-term objective is to ensure the club regains its full status and competitive edge within domestic football.
In announcing his bid, Boakai emphasized the need for stronger international competitiveness for Liberian football.
He believes improved club management systems, enhanced youth development programs, and structured talent grooming will better position Liberia to compete effectively at regional and continental levels.
Central to his platform is youth empowerment.
Boakai argues that football must serve as a vehicle for opportunity for Liberia’s young population.
He has pledged to advocate for infrastructure development that will expand youth participation in sports and create pathways for growth both on and off the field.
The seasoned financial professional also highlighted the importance of diversifying football financing in Liberia.
He intends to work with LFA leadership to stimulate greater corporate and private sector involvement in the sport, reducing over-reliance on limited government support and FIFA allocations.
According to Boakai, increased sponsorship and strategic partnerships would strengthen league operations and improve overall football structures nationwide.
