A high-powered delegation From the West African Union of Tax Institutes is expected In Liberia Soon  to harness   skills of Tax Practitioners

The West African Union of Tax Institutes is an association formed by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Ghana with the objective of developing and promoting the taxation profession in West Africa.

‎The regional body recruits nationally recognized taxation institute or organization in a West African country as eligible full members as part of effort widen discussion on taxation and related issues.

‎The planned visit comes weeks after President Joseph Boakai signed a bill into law establishing the Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners.

‎In a release issued on Wednesday, the West African Union of Tax Institutes thanked the Liberian government for establishing the Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners.

‎The West African Tax body disclosed that during the visit, the delegation will meet key stakeholders and institutions in Liberia to strengthen their operations.

‎WAUTI described the establishment of Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners as “a major breakthrough and great achievement of a long and consistent effort” by members of the LITP.

‎The regional body commends the courage, perseverance, and commitment of Liberian Institute Tax Practitioners’ members, noting that the move is a historic progress for the tax profession.

‎The body also expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders who supported the establishment of LITP, including Liberian Revenue Authority and professional actors.

‎The West African Union of Tax wants all members of the Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners to fully embrace the new legislation in complying diligently with the new mandate to contribute to a stronger tax profession that serves both taxpayers and Liberia’s economic development.

‎The regional tax body has since reaffirmed its unflinching commitment to supporting the desired goal of the Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners,

adding that the body looks forward for enhanced collaboration to upgrade membership status of LITP.

‎Meanwhile, Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners has welcomed the proposed visit by the West African Union of Tax Institutes and extolled the regional body for choosing Liberia.

‎LITP says the move taken by the regional tax body to shortly dispatch a delegate of tax experts to Liberia, to sharpen the skills of Liberian tax practitioners and enhance the operation of institutions involved in taxation is “commendable”.

‎The Liberian Institute of Tax Practitioners noted that it will in the coming days convene meeting to setup a date and jumpstart preparations for arrival of the delegation from the West African Union of Tax Institutes.
