BUCHANAN, Grand Bassa County – The Grand Bassa County Administration has officially dedicated the newly constructed Charlie’s Town Clinic, a US$120,000 health facility financed through the county’s Social Development Fund, as Superintendent Karyou Johnson continues a countywide commissioning of completed development projects ahead of Liberia’s 179th Independence Day Celebrations.

Constructed within 90 days, the clinic is expected to significantly improve access to quality healthcare for residents of Charlie’s Town and neighboring communities, reducing the need for patients to travel long distances in search of basic medical services.
The dedication ceremony forms part of a broader series of project inaugurations being undertaken by the County Administration, highlighting its investment in healthcare, education, governance and community infrastructure across Grand Bassa.
Speaking during the ceremony, Supt. Johnson described the clinic as a testament to the county’s commitment to ensuring that proceeds from the Social Development Fund are translated into meaningful projects that directly benefit citizens.
He said the administration remains focused on addressing critical development priorities by investing in infrastructure that improves livelihoods and expands access to essential public services.
“The completion of the Charlie’s Town Clinic reflects our commitment to using county resources responsibly to improve the lives of our people,” Supt. Johnson stated.
“Healthcare remains a priority and we will continue implementing projects that bring essential services closer to our communities.”
Speaking during the program, Grand Bassa County Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jude Wesseh, noted that the 10-bed rooms clinic built, will be fully equipped to serve residents and is expected to strengthen the county’s healthcare delivery system by increasing access to primary medical care.
The dedication of the Charlie’s Town Clinic also marks the beginning of a series of official commissioning ceremonies across Grand Bassa County as Supt. Johnson, members of the County Administration, local authorities and development partners formally turn over completed projects to communities.
The countywide dedication exercise includes several major infrastructure projects, among them the Lloydsville Market, Lloydsville Clinic, Lloydsville Administrative Building, J.J. Cheeseman Elementary School in Edina, Edina Magisterial Court, Wee District Administrative Hall and other community development initiatives.
Also speaking, Grand Bassa County District #5 Representative, Thomas Goshuah, said the newly built clinic which is first of its kind to be built in Charlie’s town is intended to strengthen public service delivery, improve local health system in his district.
Series of dedication ceremonies are being held as part of activities leading to this year’s Independence Day celebrations, which will be hosted in Buchanan City, placing Grand Bassa County at the center of the nation’s commemorative events.
Residents and local leaders have welcomed the commissioning of the projects, describing them as important investments that will contribute to sustainable development and improve the quality of life for communities across the county.
