Bushrod Queens delivered the biggest upset of the day, cruising to a 3-0 victory over Senior Female Professionals, while lower-margin favorites Determine Girls secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over World Girls FC.

Jackson Haunts Former Club in Upset Win

Entering the match as underdogs, Bushrod Queens dismantled Senior Female Professionals behind a standout performance from forward Edwardline Jackson.

Facing her former club, Jackson opened the scoring just five minutes after kickoff. She doubled the lead in the 31st minute, sending Bushrod Queens into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 advantage.

The Queens capped off their dominant display with a third goal in the 71st minute to seal the 3-0 victory.

Despite the heavy defeat, Senior Female Professionals celebrated a major personal milestone: defender Loretta Sackie returned to competitive action after a two-year recovery from a severe leg fracture. Sackie was introduced as a substitute for the final 25 minutes.

Sylla Strikes for Determine Girls

Earlier in the day, reigning champions Determine Girls FC began their tournament run with a narrow 1-0 win over World Girls FC.

Following a scoreless first half, Guinean forward

Bountou Sylla broke the deadlock in the second half.

World Girls pushed for an equalizer late in the match, but Determine Girls held firm to secure the aggregate lead.

For Determine Girls, the tournament serves as crucial preparation ahead of their departure for The Gambia on August 20, where they will represent Liberia in the WAFU Zone A Champions League qualifiers.

Road to the Grand Final

The inaugural four-team competition offers a total prize package featuring a US6,000 reward for the champions, while each participating club received a US1,000 preparation fee.

The return-leg will take place on Friday, August 14, at TUSA Field:

Senior Female Professionals vs. Bushrod Queens FC — 2:00 PM (Bushrod Queens lead 3-0 on aggregate)

Determine Girls FC vs. World Girls FC — 4:00 PM (Determine Girls lead 1-0 on aggregate)

The aggregate winners will advance to the grand final scheduled for Sunday, August 16, at 4:00 PM
