Monrovia – Black Man Warriors have been eliminated from the CAF Confederation Cup following a 4–1 aggregate defeat to Coton Sport of Benin.

After a goalless draw in the first leg in Monrovia, the Liberian FA Cup holders lost 4–1 in the return leg played in Togo. The result ends the club’s first appearance in continental competition at the preliminary stage.
Preparations for the second leg were marred by internal issues. Head coach Samuel Chebli reportedly offered a verbal resignation following the first leg, citing frustration over the club’s failure to secure additional players he had requested. The club has denied receiving any formal resignation from Chebli.
“We have not received any official communication from Coach Chebli concerning his resignation and remain fully focused on the return leg of our CAF encounter,” the club stated.
Further disruptions included a brief player boycott over unpaid per diems, which required urgent intervention by club management. The team eventually traveled to Togo in two groups, with the first contingent departing on Tuesday and the second arriving the following day.
Despite scoring in the away leg, the Warriors were unable to contain the Beninese side, who capitalized on the Liberian team’s off-field distractions and lack of cohesion.
Team captain Benjamin Sarkoh expressed disappointment in a social media post, acknowledging the defeat and calling for reflection and improvement.
Black Man Warriors now turn their focus back to domestic competitions, with club officials and supporters viewing the international outing as a learning experience for future campaigns.
