MONROVIA – The race for Liberia’s premier knockout trophy intensified over the weekend as several top-flight clubs booked their places in the third round of the LFA Orange Cup, keeping alive their dreams of domestic glory and a coveted spot on the continental stage.

The Orange Cup remains the most prestigious knockout competition in the country, with the ultimate winner earning the right to represent Liberia in the CAF Confederation Cup against Africa’s elite.
Major Upsets and Title Defenses
In the shock of the round, Watanga FC caused a massive upset by eliminating the “Shipping Boys” of LISCR FC with a 2–1 victory.
The result ended LISCR’s ambitions early and cemented Watanga’s status as a serious contender for the title.
Meanwhile, defending champions Blackman Warrior remained on course to retain their crown. The Warriors secured a professional 2–0 win over Nimba Kwado, ensuring their pursuit of back-to-back titles and a return to continental football stays intact.
Decisive Results Across the Country
At the Tusa Field, Freeport FC displayed clinical finishing to dispatch Borough FC 3–1, effectively ending Borough’s campaign.
In the interior, Gardnerville FC showed resilience at the Gompa Stadium, edging out Gompa FC 2–1 to secure their place in the quarterfinals.
Other key results from the knockout stage include Shaita FC continued their impressive form with a dominant 3–1 victory over Sinoe NPA.
While Bea Mountain FC progressed comfortably with a 2–0 win over Wologizi FC, courtesy of a penalty from Nuch Zohn and a second-half strike from Fredrick Dennis.
Downtown FC for her part showed grit on the road, securing a narrow 1–0 away win against Gedeh FC to keep their cup.
Fassell FC proved too strong for Golden Dream, clinching a 2–0 victory to advance to the next stage of the competition.
