Liberia: 41-year-old Man Arrested for Killing in Neighbor after Argument Escalated into Fist Fight

KAKATA, Margibi – Police authority in Margibi County has arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly killing his neighbor during an argument that escalated into a fist fight.

The incident reportedly occurred in their Pentecost Assembly of the world (PAW) community in Cinta Township situated on the Kakata-Weala Highway in Margibi County.

According to police investigation, suspect Sulue Capher’s wife and the wife of his 34-year-old deceased victim had an altercation sometime last year over a matter that ensued amongst their children.

Accordingly, elders of the PAW’s Community took hold of the matter between the two families and adjudged the wife of deceased Junior Brown guilty.

Since then, according to sources, the two families had not been on speaking terms.

Police investigation revealed that in the afternoon hours of January 28, 2022, the suspect’s wife purchased three cups of rice from the Assistant Town Chief of PAW Community who is being identified only as Satta.

The suspect reportedly narrated to investigators that it was just within that period that he heard the deceased wife throwing a jibe at his family, stating that the Assistant Town Chief (Satta) sold her rice to ‘zogos’, thus triggering a fistfight with the wife of the deceased.

The fight was, however, halted through the assistance of other community dwellers who intervened.

“The next day, January 29, 2022, early in the morning, I saw Salue pass and went in the restroom. It was at that same time I saw the late Junior Browne going in that same direction” Eyewitness Musu Broh narrated to police investigators.

Continuing, Musu added: “At no time I heard the voice of the deceased shouting, leave my shirt, leave my shirt. I then rushed to call the deceased wife about the fight that ensued between her husband and Sulue”

She explained that upon her return the scuffle between the two men has ceased with the unconscious body of the late Junior Browne lying at the feet of suspect Sulue Capher.

The deceased was immediately rushed to the next health center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by doctors on call.
