Monrovia – The John F. Kennedy Hospital is expected to rebut claims of wrongful death of Nakita Forh when its first witness takes the stand at the Civil Law Court in the coming days.
The John F. Kennedy Medical Hospital has been sued by Rep. Edward Forh for damages in the amount of US$25 million dollars for the wrongful death of his daughter.
The rebuttal from the hospital comes after the complainant’s lawyer told the court and jury on Wednesday that he has rested with the production of both material and documentary evidence against the JFK Hospital
“Your honor lawyer for the plaintiff /complainant most respectfully like to inform this court that he has rested in total with the production of both material and documentary evidence with the usual reservation to return if the need arises,” said Cllr. Arthur Johnson.
All six witnesses who testified against the JFK Hospital blamed the doctors and nurses on duty of being liable for the death of the late Nakita Forh, a student and queen of the Stella Maris Polytechnic.
Both Dr. Nyaquoi Kargbo and Moses from the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) who conducted the investigation against the JFK over the death of the deceased following a complaint from Representative Forh held the JFK responsible.
“The doctors and nurses on duty acted negligently when they allowed the father to take back the deceased home and to bring her back the next day where she died on the hospital ground,” said Dr. Kargbo, the Secretary and Registrar of the LMDC.
According to Representative Forh’s complaint on September 27, 2014, when his daughter suffered breathing complication, he took her first to the Snapper Hill Clinic but was advised by the doctor to take her to the JFK for nebulizer.
Representative Forh continued that when he got at the JFK he met an intern doctor who first told him that the nebulizer machine was there but the technicians were out.
He claimed that the intern doctor, known as Dr. Dorbor, told him that she was going to contact her boss, Dr. David Okiror, who later came at the hospital and told him that it was late and he should take his daughter back home and bring her the next day.
The Montserrado County lawmaker stated he returned to the hospital the next day on September 28, 2014 and still the doctors could not attend to his daughter and she died on the hospital ground which was based on their refusal to accept her.
The JFK Administrator in an answer to the complaint of Representative Forh indicated that the representative did not had any formal medical training but chose to take his daughter back home where she reportedly died before taking her dead body back to the hospital.
The testimony of the JFK Hospital first witness will be the hospital’s first rebuttal since fingers have been pointed at the JFK administrators for wrongful death.
