Monrovia- President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Monday, November 28, 2016 led an array Cabinet Ministers and senior government officials to sign the book of condolence for fallen Lofa County Representative, Hon. Eugene Fallah-Kparkar of Electoral District #1 .
The signing ceremony took place in the Rotunda of the Capitol Building.
President Sirleaf along with Cabinet Ministers was followed by Vice President, Joseph Boakai, and Speaker Emmanuel Nuquay, Chief Justice Francis Korkpor, Senate Pro-Temp Armah Jallah and Members of the Senate, the House and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court.
Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, heads of international establishments and autonomous agencies, bureaus and commissions and religious leaders, chiefs and elders as well as other sympathizers were present to sign the book of condolence.
The late Representative Eugene Fallah-Kparkar died on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Polay Hospital in India after a period of illness.
The deceased lawmaker was elected in 2005, re-elected 2011, and was an Executive member of the opposition Liberty Party, and a ranking member of Lofa County Legislative Caucus.
He chaired the House’s Committee on Public Utilities; Co-chaired the Committee on National Defense and served member on the Public Accounts and Expenditure Committee. He also served as chairman on Investment and Concessions and was a member on the Committee on Peace, Religious and National Reconciliation.
Prior to his election in 2005, Kparkar gained prominence when he joined student politics in the early 2000s and had his first experience of national leadership when he served as the Administrative Assistant to Fayiah S. Gbollie, then a member of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly (NTLA).
The deceased legislator earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Economics from the University of Liberia and two Master’s degrees in Public Administration and International Relations from Cuttington University Graduate School and the University of Liberia, respectively.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Mahaja Kamara-Kparkar, three children and a host of relatives in and out of Liberia.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, December 1, 2016, the remains of Hon. Eugene Fallah-Kparkar will be carried under appropriate escort from the Samuel A. Stryker Funeral Service and taken to the Capitol Hill, seat of the National Legislature for a few hours of viewing and thereafter taken to the Free Pentecostal Global Mission Church on 10th Street, Sinkor, Monrovia for wake-keeping, which begins at 9pm. Funeral rites will take place in Foya District, Lofa County on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
