General Auditing Commission Receives International Award

Monrovia – The Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions of English-Speaking Africa (AFROSAI-E), has awarded the General Auditing Commission – Liberia’s Supreme Audit Institution or SAI for being the first in the region to conduct the IT Audit Self-Assessment.

AFROSAI-E also awarded the GAC for consistently prioritizing IT Audit development.

The ‘Award of Recognition’ to Liberia was recently received by the Auditor General of Liberia, Yusador Gaye in South Africa at a ceremony under the auspices AFROSAI-E.

“This Award goes to SAI-Liberia for being the first SAI in the region to conduct the IT Audit Self-Assessment and consistently prioritizing IT Auditing development,” the Award of Recognition AFRICA-E read.

In remarks during the ceremony, Auditor General Yusador S. Gaye, on behalf of the GAC family, expressed gratitude to the Organization for Liberia’s recognition as the first SAI in the region to conduct the IT Audit alongside Regularity Audit.

IT Audit is the examination and evaluation of an organization’s information technology infrastructure, policies and operations to determine whether IT controls protect corporate assets, ensure data integrity and are aligned with the business’ overall goals.

AFROSAI-E is an autonomous, independent and non-political organization established in January 2005 as a permanent institution with links to INTOSAI, the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions, as well as the United Nations Organization.

In order to enhance public accountability, the Organization strives to enhance the quality of  audit performed by  its members, develop and share resources in the region, promote professional and technical development and cooperation among its members and other international and regional bodies such as AFROSAI and INTOSAI,and promote and maintain relations with national, regional and international institutions specializing in issues affecting the audit of public resources It also supports regional institutions in promoting good governance.
