The District 15 and senatorial by-elections had been postponed on two occasions pending the arrival of the prepacked kits for the conduct of the by-elections.
A source at the Commission informed FPA that the date was reached on Friday during a board meeting.
The setting of the date for the much-awaited by-election comes a day after the prepacked election materials arrived in the country.
The NEC, however, during the meeting raised concern over the failure of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning to disburse a remainder of US$1 million needed for the smooth conduct of the election.
With the new election date, campaign will end at midnight on July 27.
NEC had earlier announced that a full consignment of one million forty-six thousand, one hundred ballot papers are currently in the country. The ballot papers, including tactile ballot guides, forms, and record of the counts had been in the country for weeks at a secure location under the maximum protection of the Liberia National Police, NEC disclosed.
Of the total ballot papers, nine hundred and ninety-three thousand, eight hundred and fifty (993,850) will be used for the senatorial by-election, while fifty-two thousand, two hundred and fifty (52,250) will be used for the representative by-election.
