MONROVIA – United States–based Liberian forward Garmina Paygar-Flangiah, currently plying his trade with Capo FC in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) Pro League, says he remains optimistic about earning a permanent spot on the Liberia men’s national team, the Lone Star.
The Liberian-American attacker recently saw his international ambitions receive a significant boost after being invited to train with the national team during Liberia’s CAF World Cup qualification window. The invitation coincided with Liberia’s 2–2 draw against Malawi on September 8, 2025 at the Bingu National Stadium.
Paygar-Flangiah, who was in Monrovia at the time of the call-up, described the experience of joining the national camp as the fulfillment of a lifelong aspiration.
While he did not make the final 23-man matchday squad selected by head coach Thomas Kojo, the forward reportedly made a strong impression during training sessions.
Sources within the technical bench suggest his performance has placed him firmly on the radar for future international assignments as Liberia seeks to broaden its talent pool.
Reflecting on the opportunity, Paygar-Flangiah expressed his gratitude to the technical staff, noting that the intensity of training alongside seasoned internationals has bolstered his confidence.
“Representing Liberia would be the pinnacle of my football career,” the Capo FC forward stated.
“Every player aspires to wear the colors of their national team, and this experience has only fueled my determination to work harder.”
Holding dual Liberian and United States citizenship, Paygar-Flangiah’s journey from Liberia to the professional ranks in the U.S. has been defined by resilience and discipline attributes he hopes will eventually earn him a place in Coach Kojo’s tactical setup.
