In a congratulatory message released by the Office of the Former President on Wednesday, Weah described the occasion as an “exceptional” milestone in the history of the United States.

“I have the great pleasure to extend warm felicitations to you, and through you, to the Government and friendly People of the United States of America, on the exceptional occasion of the 250th Independence Anniversary of your Great Country,” Weah wrote in his message to President Trump.

The former Liberian leader wished the United States continued peace, progress, and prosperity as Americans commemorate the historic Semiquincentennial celebration, marking 250 years since the country’s Declaration of Independence.

Weah also conveyed his best wishes to President Trump personally, expressing hope that he would continue to provide wise leadership for the American people.

He concluded his message by wishing President Trump “personal well-being and continued wisdom” as he leads the United States “on the continued irreversible path to sustained peace, stability and prosperity.”

The United States will officially commemorate its 250th Independence Anniversary on July 4, 2026, with nationwide celebrations and international events hosted through U.S. embassies and diplomatic missions around the world. Liberia, whose historical ties with the United States date back more than two centuries, is also observing the landmark occasion through activities organized by the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia.

On Wednesday, the United States Embassy in Liberia commemorated the Semiquincentennial with a colorful ceremony in Monrovia, using the historic milestone to reaffirm Washington’s enduring partnership with Liberia while outlining a forward-looking agenda centered on democracy, security, healthcare, economic development, and diplomacy.
