EU, Executive Mansion Refute Amara Konneh Summon Report

Monrovia – Both the European Union and the Executive Mansion have refuted media reports that President Ellen Johnson has summoned former Finance Minister Amara Konneh to come and defend a US$13 million that was contributed to the Liberian government by the EU through its health fund.

But in a sharp defense, the Executive Mansion and the European Union refuted the allegation with the mansion calling the report as “purely imaginary and lack of all elements of truth telling and professionalism.”

In in statement, the EU said the European Union delegation to Liberia wishes to make clear that the European Union has not requested an audit of the budget support previously provided to the health sector and nor has it placed a hold on future assistance to Liberia.

The European Union delegation reminds all media outlets that we are always happy to provide details.

The Executive Mansion said the story about the summoning of the former Minister is totally false and misleading as there is no on-going investigation or audit concerning EU support that involves the Government of Liberia.

There are reports suggesting that the former Minister’s effort has contributed to the netting of US$2 million for the reconstruction of war tone Central African Republic.
